Tutor Bio:
At LMU, I worked as a tutor on campus. Not only did we mentor and tutor students on multiple subjects, but we also worked with one another to learn critical problem-solving skills, using our fellow tutors as resources. During this job experience I learned to provide feedback to others. I also improved my ability to examine and analyze problems and situations in order to better understand them and select the best methods and processes to address them. I improved my ability to refine and reshape my problem-solving strategies to best suit myself and students of a variety of backgrounds and learning styles. Tutoring was an optimal job for me because I could continue learning while leading others and helping them learn as well. Another relevant leadership experience was working as a General Biology Lab Teaching Assistant at LMU. As a second year TA, I have learned to teach and mentor others. Job tasks included drafting and grading quizzes and assignments, setting up lab equipment and experiments, lecturing, and also working with the other TA’s to coordinate labs.
