Tutor Bio:
Tutoring is an important tool in equipping students for success at all levels of schooling and academia. Tutoring has been an important aspect of my accomplishments that have granted me acceptance to the University of Chicago for the M.A. Program in the Social Sciences. I believe that learning is essential and that it can be made to excite, inspire, and empower.

As a tutor I am energetic and attempt to get the student excited about the material, if not willing to simply complete the assignment in a situation when she or he might not have otherwise. My style of teaching is to share ideas and then lead the student to find the answer. It is this discovery process and the resulting self-efficacy that compels me to tutor.

As a local or in-home tutor, I will work very hard to find ways that engage the student in the material. I have extensive work with children and adolescents with behavioral and attention issues; this is a background that contributes to my flexibility and ingenuity as a tutor. I have presented at academic conferences all over the United States and am a proficient speaker as well as a teacher. My goal post-graduate school is to teach; it is my role as an educator that I most creatively utilize for the success of other students. My background in psychology and sociology, as well as my experience in standardized testing and the graduate school process makes me not only able to teach well across several subjects and application processes, but able to pull from many different fields. I am a warm and engaging tutor who approaches the learning process with seriousness, light-heartedness, and passion.
