I was born in Queens, New York and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California my entire life. Never quite picked up surfing but I can definitely pretend to talk as one. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Economics (Go Anteaters!). When I am not tutoring I have a satisfying full time professional career in finance and an artistic passion for theater.
My Teaching Experience
I have been teaching and tutoring for over 12 years. I know the value of a good tutor when I was a struggling student myself. The tutor not only helped improve my grades but got me into a great university. I have tutored students in a full range of subjects from elementary Math, Science, English up to college level AP & Honors Calculus, AP English, AP US History, and more! I also specialize in test prep tutoring in ISEE, SAT, GRE, ACT, and SAT Subject Tests. My students generally see a overall 4 point increase in the ACT or a 100-150 point increase on the SAT and PSAT.
My Teaching Style
My approach is straight forward – I sit with the student to agree and decide on goals. I then determine the work needed and then begin our journey. When a student is grappling with a theory, that is typically the first step on the road to learning something new. Explanation, practice, and patience are the core values of my teaching style.
