Growing up in suburban Ohio, I understood education as the vehicle for fulfillment, determination, and self-understanding. I studied social theory at Harvard with a thesis in twentieth-century continental philosophy and a minor in film studies. I had the privilege of studying in Berlin, Germany and at the University of Cambridge as well. When I’m not watching films or trying to make them, I fill my time with cooking, coffee, and concerts.
My Teaching Experience
I have experience tutoring students from 4th through 11th grade in test prep (SAT/ACT/ISEE) and in academic subjects (especially chemistry, history, and English). In my college consulting work, I have helped clients (12th grade) sort through the application process and gain admission to selective universities.
My Teaching Style
I always ask students about their concerns and try to find a balance between discipline and expectations. I believe in the educational magic of patience, open communication, and relaxed encouragement.
