I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with an Emphasis in Creative Writing. I continued my graduate studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills where I earned a Special Education Mild/Moderate Disabilities Preliminary Credential, followed by a Special Education Mild/Moderate Disabilities Level II Credential. In the Spring of 2014, I graduated with a Masters of Arts in Special Education. In my spare time, I enjoy circuit training and cross-fit, baseball, comedic improvisation, movies, and write part-time for a local newspaper.
My Teaching Experience
Over the years, I have served as a Special Education Instructional Aide for the Long Beach Unified School District, a Special Education Teacher for LAUSD, and currently work at Charnock Road Elementary School as a Resource Specialist Teacher for students in grades K-6. In addition to teaching students at the elementary level, I also tutor students in Kindergarten through college in English/Language Arts, provide math instruction through Algebra 2 & Geometry, and specialize in teaching Executive Function skill building, as well as English Language Development.
My Teaching Style
As a reading & math specialist, I have extensive experience using remediation programs in both math and reading such as: Read Naturally, Wilson’s Just Words, Linda-Mood Bell’s Visualizing & Verbalizing, BURST, DIBELS 3D, and Touch Math, to name a few.
