I am from Tenafly, New Jersey, which is a suburb of New York City, just across the Hudson River. Unfortunately, that makes me a fan of the Giants, Knicks, and Yankees, which has been fairly painful recently. In high school I played football, I wrestled, and ran track, before studying at Dartmouth College where I was a History major and acted in school plays. After college, I moved straight to LA to focus on acting and writing, and have spent the past six years appearing in films, TV shows, and plays, some of which I wrote myself. I love to read, watch movies, and be as active as I can be, whether that’s hiking, biking around my neighborhood in Venice, or going to the beach with my camera.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My fundamental teaching philosophy rests on the idea that every student has their own unique way to learn. As a tutor, I believe getting to know my students and how they think is equally as important to their understanding of the subject as is their ability to simply memorize the “right” way to arrive at an answer. To that end, I try to be as personally available to my students as I can be and understand the individual needs and rhythms of each student in order to best communicate the thought processes involved in each subject. I have never believed that there is simply one “best” path to success, and by tailoring strategies to suit individual needs, I believe I can help students arrive at the answers when they will need to, which will most likely be without my immediate guidance.
