Introduction

Sierra Canyon School is a private, independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory school for students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12 located in Chatsworth, California. The highly cosmopolitan campus community is reflective of the Greater Los Angeles area and the world at large. Students are empowered to realize their greatest creative, ethical, intellectual, and physical promise through small class sizes, diverse student-teacher culture, and a family-like environment.

A Word From Admissions

Since our founding four decades ago, a spirit of enthusiastic creativity has swept through Sierra Canyon School. That spirit grows stronger, as our carefully designed Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 program expands every child’s vision, ambition, and capability a little more every day. In our Lower School’s verdant enclave, your children discover and hone their indelible talents and abiding interests. Our nurturing program intentionally builds academic agility, genuine confidence, and compassionate character – preparing your child to thrive in the intensive intellectual laboratories of our Middle and Upper Schools. From that capacious launch pad, your child sets forth for college and beyond as an uncommonly self-aware, self-advocating, and self-directed young adult. We call that Learning Forward.

Popular Programs/Electives

Extracurricular involvement is a vital part of the learning experience at Sierra Canyon. Clubs and organizations allow students and their faculty sponsors to engage in shared learning, passion, and educational growth outside of the traditional boundaries of the classroom. Our programs and curriculum include experiential learning, service learning, character education, and Peak Week (perhaps our Upper Campus’s most beloved signature program). Every year for Peak Week, students choose from dozens of local and international experiences that take their learning beyond the classroom and into new territory.

APs/Advanced Courses

The Middle School program challenges students and encourages them to take maximum advantage of educational opportunities as doors are opened to new ideas that evoke curiosity and the desire to explore. The Upper School offers a rigorous academic curriculum, taught by passionate, diverse, and expert teachers. Our program, which includes 23 AP courses, is designed to provide a wide range of intellectual opportunities that allow the student to delve deeply into areas of particular interest.
