ABOUT ME

I have a BA in Mathematics and English and a minor in French from the University of Rochester. During my undergrad, I studied abroad in both France and England. Outside of tutoring, I love music and theater (both of which I also studied during college!), as well as reading, baking, knitting, SCUBA-diving, and video games.

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began working as a tutor for Arizona State University during my last two years of high school while studying mathematics there part-time. I then went on to work as a math tutor at the University of Rochester while completing my full-time degree program. Throughout college, I also tutored privately, covering everything from high school math to French instruction to general academic support and worked with students being homeschooled due to COVID-19. Before moving to Los Angeles, I spent four years in NYC helping students with SAT prep and high school admissions for schools such as Stuyvescent, Berkeley Carroll, Brooklyn Tech, etc. I have experience with students of all ages from kindergarten to college.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My approach prioritizes flexibility, always aiming to find what works best for a given student. My ultimate goal is to make sessions as enjoyable as possible while helping students to reach their full academic potential. I also take a very holistic approach to tutoring that blends coaching with typical academic instruction. I’ve worked with many students who struggle with confidence and self-belief, and that can often get in the way even more than a student simply not understanding certain material. Where needed, I teach somatic and mindset techniques in order to help students with how they think about the work and their own abilities as well as how they function in high pressure environments (like test-taking). I want every student I work with to believe in their own capabilities to do anything, no matter how challenging, if they just put their mind to it.
