After receiving my Bachelor’s degree from the University of London, I moved to Argentina where I studied advanced Spanish at the University of Buenos Aires. In 2018, I received my doctorate in Spanish and Latin American Studies from Stanford. I now live in Los Angeles where, concurrent with my work as a tutor, I am a professional playwright and screenwriter and proud member of The Writers Guild of America.
ABOUT ME
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Whilst pursuing my PhD, I had the opportunity to teach myriad college-level language courses from Introductory Spanish to Advanced Oral Communication, as well as additional courses on Literature and Philosophy. Beyond language instruction, as a tutor I have worked widely with students in World History, English (Language & Literature), Creative Writing, Middle and High School Math and College Essay Prep. Additionally, I have used my language abilities to work as a consultant/mentor for first-generation Spanish Speaking High School and College students as they navigate the intricacies of the American education system.
MY TEACHING STYLE
I like to make students feel comfortable through dialogue and conversation. Although every individual learner is different, it is my experience that all students benefit from an atmosphere that allows them to explore and discover answers for themselves, while feeling comfortable enough to take risks and ask probing questions. My version of the Socratic method is to help break any problem down into smaller steps, each of which the student can then independently answer.
