ABOUT ME

I’m a second generation native Angeleno. I find passion and joy in being an educational specialist, teacher, and private tutor. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a multiple subject teaching credential from California State University, Northridge, and went on to earn a Master of Education from Pepperdine University. I am trained in many programs, including Singapore Math and Cognitively Guided Instruction, Lucy Calkins reader’s and writer’s workshops, Handwriting Without Tears and Fountas and Pinnell. In the summer of ’23, I attended the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) Summer Institute for professional development. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, hiking, cooking, and traveling.

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught for the past 17 years at several independent schools, including Hollywood Schoolhouse, Pilgrim, Curtis, and John Thomas Dye. I currently work as a homeschool teacher and with several other clients. As an educational specialist and trained Executive Function coach, I work with students one-on-one and regularly read and interpret testing reports, conduct informal assessments, address remedial math, reading and writing needs, and communicate with parents and any therapists, educators, and faculty that may be part of a student’s support team.

MY TEACHING STYLE

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to create engaging and stimulating lessons that cover required curriculum and inspire curiosity and critical thinking. I have a knack for incorporating various teaching methods and resources to cater to individual learning styles and make learning not only informative but also enjoyable. I ensure that educational as well as social-emotional needs are met effectively and encourage students to strive for excellence while providing the necessary support and encouragement along the way.
