ABOUT ME

Born and raised here in LA, I am always invigorated by engaging with students across my beloved home city (and beyond) through education! I left my treasured beaches and hiking spots initially for the Bay Area, where I attended Stanford University. Before returning home, I journeyed east to New York University, and currently work as a professional music composer for Film/TV/Media in addition to my tutoring and teaching work. As such, I love a wide variety of TV, movies, and music, and I enjoy connecting with students over shared favorites!

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

With an educational background that spans the STEAM spectrum, I have taught and tutored in a wide variety of settings and subjects. From 1:1 test prep to group enrichment in coding or music, and from elementary through college years, I have supported students to realize personal bests, achieve competitive successes, and make new discoveries. I find that whether it’s SAT, ISEE, Calculus, Chemistry, Chinese, or Composition, unique insights from teaching one subject can often be deployed in another.

MY TEACHING STYLE

While tailoring my methods to each individual or group, I focus on creating a clear staircase to success by building on what students already know and empowering their capacity to overcome obstacles, providing guidance first and more direct intervention at the right moment. I strive to ensure that students are and feel supported and prepared to make maximum progress not only when actively in lessons or classes but also in their independent practice time. I emphasize students’ breaking down and “teaching back” problems and strategies to both reward and solidify understanding.
