ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Pasadena, California and graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelor’s in Politics. Since graduating, I have spent time living in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Paris, and Chile. Aside from tutoring, I also work as a professional writer-director, actor, and filmmaker. In my free time, I love staying active. Some of my favorite activities are running, rock climbing, hiking, and backpacking. In fact, I have backpacked over 500 miles of the Appalachian trail!

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been tutoring the SAT/ACT for over 10 years, and have helped students achieve the scores they need for the most elite colleges. I have completed strategic test-prep training with multiple tutoring companies, so I have absorbed a diverse toolkit of strategies to help students boost their outcomes. I have extensive experience tutoring all sections of the SAT and ACT, as well as Academic Math from Algebra 1 to Pre-Calculus. I’ve had students improve by as much as 200 points per section on the SAT and as much as 10 points per section on the ACT.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I treat students like individuals, tailoring my approach to their unique needs. My goal is not only to help students improve their scores and approach the test more efficiently, but also to build their confidence and sense of accomplishment as they see their hard work pay off. With an approach of encouragement and empowerment, I work with students to build their self-reliance. I engage students with questions that check their methodology and deep understanding of the material. I also let students take time exploring problems before intervening, providing enough guidance to help them get to the next step but allowing them to build grit, creativity and ownership of problem-solving. Ultimately, I see it as my job to prepare students to succeed when I’m not in the room. Building their command of the material and confidence with their own knowledge helps accomplish that.
