ABOUT ME

Originally from New York, I went West to Reed College in Oregon where I graduated with a B.A. in history and wrote my thesis on the use of sporting events to apply pressure to repressive regimes in the 20th century. I have been a tutor in Los Angeles for over ten years, working on test prep for a variety of standardized tests, as well as homework help and organizational skills. In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, and exploring LA. I have one double-jointed thumb.

MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have tutored a range of subjects including SAT, ACT, CHSPE, ISEE, HSPT, AP exams, and homework help. I have also taught English and AP history in a classroom setting. I have helped students improve test scores, raise grades, and develop skills that help them in future academic endeavors.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a teacher I strive to balance short term information retention with skill development. I don’t just want to help students learn how to do a particular type of problem or cram for a test (although those are important!), I want to teach study skills, problem-solving, and confidence that will help students in similar situations in the future.
