I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, just a stone’s throw from LACMA. Eager to explore a new part of the United States during college, I moved to Allentown, PA to pursue a dual degree in Neuroscience and English Literature before moving back to Los Angeles for a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in Biostatistics & Epidemiology. Always a scholar at heart, I am involved as a consultant on several research studies across Los Angeles, using both quantitative and qualitative methods to assess nonprofit impact. Outside of academic spaces, you can find me curled up with my cat and a good book, enjoying a trail in the Angeles National Forest, catching a movie in theaters, tackling a new JRPG, playing Magic: The Gathering with friends, or searching for the flakiest croissant in Los Angeles.
ABOUT ME
MY TEACHING EXPERIENCE
With years of experience spanning STEM, humanities, and test preparation, I bring both subject mastery and a deep understanding of how students learn best. Beginning in 2013 as a peer tutor for fellow undergraduates and as part of an outreach program for underserved middle and high school students, I have been teaching for over a decade. I have taught everything from calculus, biology, and physics to English literature, psychology, and comparative government, tailoring my methods to meet the needs of each learner. I have also served as a test prep tutor for over a decade, successfully preparing students for the ACT, SAT, ISEE, and HSPT by combining strategic test-taking techniques with targeted academic review. My ability to demystify standardized testing, reduce anxiety, and boost scores often translates beyond test day and into the classroom. I understand what it takes to build strong foundational roots while maintaining the quality, individualization, and personal attention that every student deserves.
MY TEACHING STYLE
My training in neuroscience and cognitive scaffolding informs my teaching approach: I focus not only on helping students grasp the material but also on equipping them with the tools and confidence to become independent learners. This holistic perspective means students aren’t just preparing for the next test—they are building skills that will last a lifetime. My strength lies in supporting students. Parents can trust that I will adapt my instruction with patience, empathy, and creativity to match their child’s unique learning style. Whether guiding a student who struggles with executive functioning or helping a high-achieving student refine advanced writing and analysis skills, I meet students where they are with compassion and empathy, encouraging them to strive toward their full potential. Families have seen this individualized, research-informed approach foster not only stronger academic outcomes but also greater resilience and self-esteem in their children.
